Can I learn German on my own, without a teacher?

Yes. Plenty of people learn German independently, and Wortify is built for that. You describe your goal (a tech job, dating in Berlin, medical German…), AI drafts a vocabulary course for it, and you practise a few minutes a day with spaced repetition and active recall, so the words you review are the ones you will actually need. Wortify trains vocabulary, not everything: for speaking and listening, add conversation practice, podcasts or a language partner alongside it.

Is Wortify free to use?

Yes. The free plan gives you 20 word reviews per day, spaced repetition and every course in the community marketplace, with no credit card required. Paid plans start at €5/month and add unlimited daily reviews, Coffee Break sessions, the Reflex Trainer and AI-generated courses.

Do I need prior German knowledge to start?

No. Wortify works for every level from A1 to C2. When you build a course you choose your level and the AI drafts vocabulary to match: beginners start with essentials like "Hallo" and "Danke", advanced learners can work on specialised terms like "Schnittstellendokumentation".

How is Wortify different from Duolingo?

Duolingo is a general-purpose language course with a guided path and game-style rewards. Wortify is a vocabulary tool built around your own goal: you describe it (a tech job, dating in Berlin, medical German…) and AI drafts a course for it, which you practise with active recall and spaced repetition (SM-2) instead of streaks and points. Many learners combine the two: a general course for the foundations, Wortify for the words they specifically need. Duolingo is a trademark of Duolingo, Inc.; Wortify is not affiliated with it.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel at any time in your account settings, and paid features stay available until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. After that your account moves to the free plan (20 word reviews per day). Your progress and courses stay in your account, so you can resubscribe later and pick up where you left off. Is there a mobile app (iOS/Android)?

Wortify is a progressive web app: it runs in your phone's browser (Safari, Chrome) and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. There are no native iOS or Android apps at the moment.
